Collection: Asunta Quispe ~ Patacancha, Cusco

Patacancha is a remote village nestled 4,200 meters above sea level in the Andes, known for its colorful, high-quality textiles crafted primarily by the women of the community. These textiles are handwoven using traditional techniques passed down through generations, reflecting the community’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to craftsmanship.

We work directly with Asunta Quispe, visiting her home once or twice a year to personally select the pieces for our collection. Each textile is one of a kind, handwoven with handspun, naturally dyed alpaca fiber, offering rustic yet stunning pieces that celebrate the ancient backstrap loom weaving tradition of the high Andes.

The vibrant colors are derived from wild-harvested plants, insects, and lichen, while the intricate patterns tell the stories of the weaver’s culture, community, and cosmology, often featuring symbols of Andean flora and fauna.

"Through these textiles, we honor the deep connection between tradition and the natural world, bringing a piece of the Andes to life." - Patacancha
