Collection: Sasha Barrionuevo Shorty - New Mexico

Sasha Barrionuevo Shorty, a Native American beader from Abiquiu, New Mexico, is of Navajo and mixed Russian, German, and Scottish descent. Her father, Eddy Shorty, is a stone sculptor, and her mother, Paula Narbutovskih, is a landscape painter.

Sasha began beadwork at age 9, winning "Best in Show" at the Eight Northern Pueblos market. She holds a B.A. in English literature from Dartmouth College.

Now married with three children, Sasha lives in Abiquiu with her husband, Cesar, an organic herb farmer from Bolivia.
