This listing is for a real pressed plant and botanical specimen. Inspired by herbarium specimens, it is an artistic presentation of Scarlet penstemon (Penstemon barbatus), also known as scarlet beardtongue, is a striking perennial wildflower with tall, upright stems bearing tubular, bright red flowers. Its vibrant blooms attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, making it an important nectar source in meadows, foothills, and open slopes. The plant’s narrow, lance-shaped leaves form a basal rosette, adding texture and greenery to its native habitats. Collected in the mixed conifer forests in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico.
It is mounted on acid-free, high-quality (320 gsm), watercolor paper handmade in India. A collection label is also included with the specimen scientific name, common name, Family name, location and date collected.
