Artemio Poma - Peru

Artemio Poma is a master ceramic artist from the Ayacucho region in the Peruvian Highlands. Part of a younger generation of artisans, Artemio combines ancient traditions with his own contemporary style. His work is both utilitarian and decorative, drawing from ancient Peruvian symbology and colonial themes, yet always infused with a whimsical and playful attitude.

His pieces, often created in a palette of beige, ochre, and brown, showcase his distinctive style and have become highly collectible. Although many of his peers lean toward mass-market techniques, Artemio remains dedicated to preserving the more ancestral methods of production, creating both functional and decorative pieces inspired by the local flora and fauna, with a formal synthesis and defined line decoration.
