Artemio Poma - Peru

Artemio Poma is a master ceramic artist who belongs to a younger generation of artisans of the Ayacucho region in the Peruvian Highlands. Poma's art is rooted in traditions and techniques of his ancestors while at the same time striving to define his own contemporary style. His pieces are utilitarian and decorative, representative of ancient Peruvian symbology and colonial themes, but always with a whimsical, playful attitude. His palette of beige, ochre, and brown makes up a recognizable style that makes his work aesthetically interesting and very collectible.
