Shipibo Artist Lastenia Canayo

Lastenia Canayo is a contemporary artist and cultural ambassador from the Shipibo-Konibo indigenous community, located along the Ucayali River in the Peruvian Amazon. Her native name, Pecon Quena, translates to "the one who calls the colors."

A world-renowned artist, Lastenia works across multiple media, including ceramics, embroidery, carving, and painting. Her work conveys the deep ancestral knowledge of her community, reflecting a sacred connection between humans and the environment.
