Collection: Incawasi - Textiles from the North of Peru
Association of Creative Women Entrepreneurs of Lambayeque, Peru.
The contemporary textiles crafted by the women artisans of Lambayeque, Northern Peru, are made using ancestral techniques passed down through generations. From a young age, the women of this community learn to spin yarn by hand, working with the wool of the sheep they raise on the steep Andean slopes.
This small tropical region, with its coastline, cloud forest, and highlands, offers a rich variety of climates and elevations that contribute to a diverse range of local flora. These plants are used to naturally dye the wool, creating vibrant colors that reflect the biodiversity of the area. Using small looms attached to their waists, the artisans skillfully weave beautiful, tightly-knit blankets, showcasing their exceptional craftsmanship.
